Essay Writting
This course aims at developing students' mechanical writing and editing skills. The course provides students with the basic rules of writing a well-organized paragraph and essay with special reference to unity and coherence
Intoduction to Linguistics
Providing students with more advanced and current linguistic notions with emphasis on such issues as universal linguistic principles, linguistic principles, and linguistic creativity. In addition, it provides students with more syntactic, phonological and morphological features of English with emphasis on comparing English to another language regarding such features. It introduces students to the theory of transformational syntax, the social and cultural matrix of language and the issue of language variation, and the historical matrix of language and the issue of language change.
Language Acquisition
This course is to familiarize students with the basic concepts and technical terms of language acquisition. In addition, the course content provides students with a solid background knowledge about the main theories of first language acquisition as well as the main theories of second language acquisition. The course introduces some relevant research findings related to teaching/learning of English as a second or foreign language
Advanced Grammar 1
This course is to familiarize students with the different parts of speech, types of phrases and sentences. Moreover, it provides students with general knowledge on tense sequence, question formation, and negation.

This course is to familiarize students with the English vowels, articulatory production of speech sounds, phonetic symbols, and characteristics of vowel and consonant sound

The course aims at getting students acquainted with the political, social, and economic history of the 16th and 17th centuries England. It also aims at introducing students to some literary figures that influenced and got influenced by the conditions of their time.
Drama II
This course is to familiarize students with different concepts and conventions of theatre and drama during the Restoration age. It also aims at introducing students to longer tragedies by William Shakespeare, in addition to some other plays by representative dramatists of the Restoration and 18th century periods.

This course aims mainly at introducing students to the early British novel till the end of the 19th century. It is intended to help students understand and appreciate the literary product of the founders of the novel.
