نبذه مختصرة

Microbiology is the study of all living organisms that are too small to be visible with the naked eye This includes bacteria, archaea, viruses, fungi, prions, protozoa and algae, collectively known as microbesThe scope of Microbiology is huge because of the involvement of microbiology in variousfields such as Pharmacy, Medicine, clinical research, agriculture, dairy industry, waterindustry, nanotechnology & chemical technology Microbiologists can make careers inresearch and non-research fields

Molecular Detection of multidrug-resistant Mycobacterium tuberculosis strains isolated in Tabuk city, Saudi Arabia Drug-resistant bacteria, especially multidrug-resistant (MDR) M tuberculosis and extensively drug-resistant (XDR) M tuberculosis, pose challenges for the prevention and control of this deadly disease MDR M tuberculosis is defined as an isolate resistant to at least the two main first-line anti-TB drugs, rifampin (RIF) and isoniazid (INH), whereas XDR M tuberculosis is defined as an MDR isolate that is also resistant to a fluoroquinolone (FQ) and at least one of the following second-line injectable agents: amikacin (AMK), kanamycin (KAN), and capreomycin (CAP) TB control and prevention programs are based on early diagnosis followed by rapid identification of drug resistance
Genotypic detection and molecular characterization of antibiotic Resistant Gram Negative Bacteria isolates in Tabuk City, Saudi Arabia Resistance rates are increasing among several problematic Gram negative bacteria (GNB) that are often responsible for serious nosocomial infections, including Acinetobacter spp, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, and (because of their production of extendedspectrum β-lactamase) Enterobacteriaceae The presence of multi-resistant strains of these organisms has been associated with prolonged hospital stays, higher health care costs, and increased mortality, particularly when initial antibiotic therapy does not provide coverage of the causative pathogen (1, 2) Carbapenem resistance has been described in non-fermentative GNB (Acinetobacter baumannii and Pseudomonas aeruginosa) and in Enterobacteriaceae These GNB are major nosocomial pathogens and are the most common bacteria responsible for a wide range of community-acquired and nosocomial infections such as pneumonia, septicemia, peritonitis, meningitis, and urinary tract infections Therefore, acquired carbapenemase-encoding genes constitute a real clinical concern for antimicrobial management, notably in that resistance to carbapenems may be coupled with resistance to other classes of antibiotics, such as aminoglycosides and fluoroquinolones (2, 3) The multidrug resistant Gram negative bacteria colonization globally ranged from 112%-591% With the highest rate in Asia in Vietnam 551 % followed by Thailand 45% (1), in Europe it was between 10-25 % (3) whereas in Saudi Arabia it was reported to be between 20-40 % in Teaching Hospital in Jeddah (4), other study showed multi drug resistant of 65% for Escherichia coli With high rates of appropriate initial antibiotic therapy, infections caused by multi-resistant Gram-negative pathogens do not negatively influence patient outcomes or costs (5, 6, 7, 8) However, there is no published authentic data concerning resistant pattern among Gram negative bacteria in Tabuk province
Genetic variations among SARS-CoV-2 strains Determining the variations in SARS-CoV-2 strains is considered main factor for understanding the pathogenic mechanisms, aid in diagnosis, prevention and treatment The present study aimed to determine the genetic variations of SARS-CoV-2 The sequences of SARS-CoV-2 were obtained from National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI) and studied according to the time of isolation and their origin The genome sequence of SARS-CoV-2 accession number NC_045512 which represented the first isolated sequence of SARS-CoV-2 (Wuhan strain) was used as the reference sequence
