Dr Hossam AbdelMeguid is currently an associate professor at the University of Tabuk at Saudi Arabia, and an assistant professor in mechanical Engineering at Mansoura University/ Egypt (on leave) As an associate professor at the University of Tabuk, he contributes to its focus on engineering education, continue his research on thermofluid, energy systems and water networks, and lead campus and professional service activities
His 15 year of academic experience prepares him to be an effective researcher and instructor in mechanical engineering disciplines His doctoral dissertation was conducted studied the energy and leakage management in water distribution systems In his research, he developed an integrated nonlinear programming / multi-objective genetic algorithms with network simulation techniques to achieve the best practice in energy and leakage management in water distribution systems This was delivered in a computer-based programs
In addition to his PhD research, other areas that interest him for future research stem from his goal of developing improved analytical models and methods for design, evaluation, and upgrade of thermofluid, energy systems and water networks Some of the studies that he has conducted are the development of an optimal performance-based operating parameters of solar cooling system He has also developed a novel approach for enhancing the utilization of solid desiccants in packed bed He has published many manuscripts in peer-reviewed journals, books, and professional web magazines and He has presented his work at national and regional conferences Dr HAbdelMeguid has also worked on evaluation and improvement of flow characteristic of slurry flow in pipe and valves
Dr HAbdelMeguid objective as a teacher is to motivate his students to develop their own learning interests and critical thinking to establish a learner-centered environment in the classroom In particular, teaching a wide range of courses from first-year fluid mechanics and thermodynamics to advanced heat transfer and turbulence courses, etc He prepare lesson plans always considering the interconnection between the student’s own knowledge, culture and learning abilities, the subject matter discussed in class, and current debates on contemporary issues Dr HAbdelMeguid choose content and activities that are both significant and challenging for the students so that they are stimulated to think “beyond their comfort zone and feel involved in their own learning process Similarly, the activities and class discussions He facilitate encourage students to make connections between his field of study and other disciplines
