FROM NERVES TO CONFIDENCE
NERVES
One of the most challenging life of being a nursing student is writing research studies as one of the undergraduate requirements. The fourth-year nursing students successfully presented their group research despite difficulties and challenges in writing full paper research within 10 weeks duration. This proves that nurses are resilient to all kind of adversity and this start during their academic years.
An oral research defense is a crucial part of the research process, where a student presents their research findings to a panel of experts in their field. The purpose of the defense is to provide an opportunity for students to demonstrate their knowledge and expertise in their research area. The panel of experts assesses the student's research, the quality of their work, and how well they present it. The defense is a significant milestone in a student's academic career, and it is essential to approach it with the right mindset.
It is crucial to understand that defense is not a test of your intelligence or ability to memorize information. Instead, it is a test of your ability to think critically, communicate effectively, and present your research findings in a compelling manner. Your presentation should demonstrate your research skills and your ability to contribute to your field of study. The defense is an opportunity to showcase your research, receive feedback, and gain valuable experience presenting your work to a knowledgeable audience.
CONFIDENCE
The oral research defense can be a challenging and nerve-wracking experience for many students. However, with the right preparation, mindset, and techniques, it can also be an incredibly rewarding and empowering experience.
Facing your fears and building confidence through the oral research defense is worth it because it provides an opportunity to showcase your research, gain valuable feedback, and develop your public speaking skills.
By following the strategies and techniques outlined in this article, you can overcome your anxiety and deliver a confident and engaging presentation. Remember, practice makes perfect.
